Planning for Sea Level Rise Workshop: How Will We Develop?
Florida’s Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve (GTM Research Reserve) and the University of Florida have teamed up to work with Matanzas Basin stakeholders to plan for sea level rise in a way that protects communities and the environments they depend on for quality of life and commerce. Over the past two years, the UF and GTM Reserch Reserve team has used a structured collaborative process to work with a wide variety of stakeholders to identify areas of conflict and agreement related to sea level rise via multiple workshops in the Matanzas Basin. The goal of the workshop on February 24 is to move beyond the science of sea level rise and begin a discussion on future development scenarios and conservation priorities in the Matanzas Basin. The workshop will be held at the Whitney Lab for Marine Biosciences in Marineland from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. The public is encouraged to attend and a summary of past workshops will be given for first-time attendees. Please register here.
